    Night Rides Empty Night Rides

    Post  dom1 Mon Feb 16, 2009 7:08 am

Will start another night ride topic, as it was a good place for the various night riders to advertise their rides. Myself and Phil will probably be going out Tuesday and Thursday if anyone is interested. We usually meet about 7.45-8.00 and will either be doing a route across the commons to Tilford, or a pootle around Puttenham common.
Let me know if anyone is interested and I will post more details with specifics.

I will also, probably have a spare set of lights in the next couple of weeks, if anyone wants to borrow them to try a spot of night riding. By this I mean riding at night, as opposed to having a red light strobing across the front of your handle bars, whilst talking to your bike, and wearing a dodgy leather jacket with rolled up sleeves Wink

    Cheers

OK Phil and I will be in the crown court car park from about 7.50 to 8. Route to be decided but weather looks good.
Shouldn't be more than about 2 hours.
    Cheers

Gonna have to bail on tonights ride. Phil has hurt his knee and is trying to protect it ahead of his snowboarding next week, and looks like I am going to be stuck at work till late!! Why is it when you least need it, work goes mental, and you are suddenly working harder than ever. Still at least I still have a job so can't complain too much.
Will be out again next Tues.

Incidentally went out the Tues just gone and the conditions were fantastic. Nice and firm under foot, with hardly a breath of wind. Had to take a layer I got so hot. We had a close encounter with an owl who seemed to take a shine to Phil and shadowed him for some time. There were snowdrops and crocuses poking their heads up. really seems like spring is on the way. This is one of the reasons I love cycling. You get to see the seasons change close up, and whereas people who don't get out in this weather might still think it is cold and dark, we get to see first hand the little changes which means summer is on its way Smile
There was a route through the commons however which was about 1 foot under water. Only really realized when my front wheel sunk in a rut and I had to bail. All I can say is praise the lord for Sealskinz waterproof socks !!

    nay worries from me.

struggling to stay awake at the mo. very busy and not sleeping too well.

ironically a blast on a bike would probably solve that..
