Welsh trail centers with accomodation - recommendations ? Empty Welsh trail centers with accomodation - recommendations ?

    Post  dom1 Mon Feb 16, 2009 7:26 am

Have managed to secure a weekend pass for April and am planning to visit one of the Welsh trail centers. Any recommendatins for accomodation for the Saturday night? A pub would be excellent, a B&B withing walking distance of a pub, also good, all obviously close to the cycling. I am not bothered which centre we goto, but not having been before would also be open to suggestions on this count.

    Thanks
    Dom

    Hi Dom,

I stayed at brynteg house b and b a couple of years ago in Cwmmer, which is basically at the centre of the Afan Trails, Whites Level and Skyline start a very short spin away up the sustrans cycle track and Penhydd and the wall are a couple of miles down the sustrans.

the pub is good and serves reasonable food, the locals are very welcoming and the quiz night is something to savour, everyone's a winner. it's also a gentle stagger away over the bridge.

Brynteg also has another cottage set up as self cattering but with accommodation for six in bunkbeds.

they are set up for mountain biking with secure storage and hose down. the couple that run it are very nice too.

    the number is 01639 851820. http://www.brynteghouse.com/
