    Hi,

Trying to gauge potential interest in a weekend trip to South Wales in April/May. The plan would be to head over early on the Saturday and stay in a B&B overnight.

Most likely destination would be Afan and will try to fit in 3 of the main trails over the weekend.

Let me know if you're interested.

    Cheers

    Hi James,

Afan is always a good idea!

I was actually planning to relocate at least one of this years Saturday rides down that way.

An overnight trip would be ideal, although I was thinking of the (more frugal) camping and barbecue option.

With camping in mind I'd be looking at May realistically, which isn't a bad thing if you're up for riding 3-4 trails in 2 days (more light and more time to get fit for it Wink

Let's try and co-ordinate dates to avoid confusion.

    Cheers

There's a Saturday ride in the diary for Sat 9th May.

Shall we make it a Wales one then?

Definitely agree that we should do the camping option - although never had the best of luck with South Wales weather!

9th May not great for me as I won't have access to a car, but 16th is clear.

    Cheers

car sharing should resolve your lack of car on those dates so are the dates OK with you?

I can do either the 9th or the 16th, but 16th would suit better due to birthdays etc.

although I am quite interested in the Crickhowell Merida on the 16th, yes it's two weeks after the Gorrick 100 but hey.

anyone up for the Merida and is anyone doing the gorrick?

i know exactly where you're going with that one. i was off the bike from september through to january with one thing or another, but ultimately it was can'tbearseditis. just one good day on the bike will bring back the mojo.

Actually, I shan't be doing Gorricks, or any XC racing this year...am focussing on LVRC road races and, come September, 10 days of hell in the Alps for the Cent Cols Challenge http://www.centcolschallenge.com/

Welsh Trail Centre Visit Empty Finally.....

Post  jow Mon Apr 20, 2009 4:46 am

sorry for not replying sooner but been busy at work and home.

Looks like the weekend will be the 16th-17th May - the options are to either stay overnight (camping) or to do a day trip.

How many people are interested in the day trip or overnight? For a day trip would suggest that we do Whites Level, lunch at the mtb centre and then the Wall/Penhydd trails on the way.

    Website link below:

    http://www.mbwales.com/en/content/cms/centres/afan_forest_park/afan_forest_park.aspx

I don't have access to a car on the Saturday, so would need to hitch a lift.

    Cheers

    James
